In which language the widget on your restaurant website appears is determined by the implemented widget code. If you want to change the language of the widget, you need to change the widget code on your website.

The 'data-language' part in the widget code decides which language the guest will see in the widget and in all email communication.

๐Ÿ’ก Multiple languages. You can implement multiple widgets in different languages on different parts of your site. e.g. Place an English widget code on your English part of the website and a Dutch widget code on the Dutch part of your website.

๐Ÿค– Automatically choose the guests' preferred language. If you set 'data-language' to 'auto', the widget will automatically be shown in the browser language of the guest. If this language is not activated, the widget will fall back onto the default language of your restaurant.

Creating a new widget code on your configuration page

  • In Formitable, go to Settings > Widget and click on 'configuration page', to generate a new widget code.

  • At 'data-language' you can select in which language the widget will be shown.

  • Languages currently supported are: Dutch ("nl"), English ("en"), French ("fr"), German ("de"), Spanish ("es"), Catalan ("ca"), Danish ("da"), Swedish ("sv"), Norwegian ("nb").

  • Copy the code and implement it on the specific part of your website. We recommend placing the widget code inside the <body> or <footer> tag of your website.

๐Ÿค“ Too technical? Ask your website developer to do this for you. Is your website developer struggling as well? Get us in touch and we'll sort it out together.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Formitable WordPress plugin. If you are using the Formitable WordPress plugin, you can change the language of the widget in WordPress at Settings > Formitable > Language. If you set 'Language' to 'Website language', the widget will automatically change its language based on the HTML 'lang' tag in your website. If you set it to 'Browser language' the language will be based on the guests' browser.

๐Ÿ“Œ Don't forget to add all your translations. In which languages you want to offer your online guest experience, can be set at Settings > Setup > Languages. Do you use multiple languages? Don't forget to fill in all relevant texts and descriptions in all languages. Do you see a yellow exclamation mark? Then you are missing a text in this language.
