You can create Promotion Codes that are unique to your restaurant. A perfect way to engage with your guests and create loyal customers that keep buying from you 💸.

In Formitable you can create different kinds of Promotion Codes for each kind of product: Tickets, Takeaway, and Gift vouchers. Per product, you can decide whether the Promotion Code applies to for example all Tickets, or only to a specific Ticket.

How to create a new promotion code

  • In Formitable, go to Marketing > Promotion Codes

  • Click on the blue '+' at the top right to start a new code

Below we will explain the sections you walk through when creating a new code.

Code

In this section, you fill in a code that guests can use to redeem their discount or give-away when they make a reservation, order takeaway, or buy a gift voucher.

By default, your code is enabled. If you don't want the code to be active yet, you can flip the switch and disable it.

  1. Fill in a name for your discount or give-away that represents what the code is for. For example, FREEAPPETIZER, or 10DISCOUNT.

  2. Write a clear description so guests know what to expect. Similar to the Ticket description, this is a perfect way to manage expectations.

  3. Optional: you can set a limit to the number of times the code can be used. For example, if you want to give your code to an influencer for him or her to give it away to his or her followers on social media, you probably want to limit the number of usages.

💡 Don't forget to add your description in multiple languages if you have a multi-language website.

Product

This section selects the product type on which the code applies: Tickets, Takeaway, or Gift vouchers.

  1. You can choose whether your code applies to all products within your product type or one or more specific products within your product type.

  2. When you select that your code applies to a specific Ticket, specific Takeaway product, or a specific Gift voucher, you can click on "Select Products" to select one or more specific items.

For example, if you only want to offer the promotion code for specific Takeaway products, you select those products.

❗ Note that you don't select a product that you want to give away, but instead, you select which product guests have to buy to redeem the code. In other words, your code can be restricted to one or more specific products.

Discount

In this section, you specify what kind of discount or give-away your code offers. There are different options depending on the product type you choose in the previous section.

Tickets

  1. No Amount. Select this option if you want to give away a free item. For example, a free cocktail or a free cookbook when you make a reservation.

  2. Fixed Amount. Select this option if you want to give a discount of a fixed amount. You can choose whether you want to give this discount per booking or guest.

❗ Note that it is not possible to select Percentage when your code applies to Tickets.

Takeaway orders

  1. No Amount. Select this option if you want to give away a free item. For example, a free side dish.

  2. Fixed amount per order.

  3. Percentage. Select this option if you want to give a certain percentage discount. For example, 15% discount on all orders above €50.

💡 When you select "Fixed amount per order" or "Percentage" you can add a minimum order amount as a condition. If the order doesn't exceed the amount you set under "minimum order amount" guests won't be able to use the code.

Gift vouchers

  1. Fixed amount. Select this option if you want to give a discount of a fixed amount per order or person. For example, €10 discount on your 6-course menu gift voucher.

  2. Percentage. Select this option if you want to give a certain percentage discount. For example, 15% discount on all gift vouchers.

❗ Note that it is not possible to select "No Amount" when your code applies to gift vouchers because usually, you buy a gift voucher for someone else. So you won't be able to, for example, give the buyer of the gift voucher a free appetizer, as they aren't the ones that will visit your restaurant.

Schedule

Finally, you can set a period in which your promotion code is valid. By default, the start date will be de date on which you create the code. You can select another date in the future and also add an end date if your code is valid until a specific date. Make sure to add these details to your code description as well so guests know what to expect.
